When Ken purchased this vehicle in 1969, he paid the princely sum of £30! However, it had been already been stripped down and he wasn't sure exactly what it was! It took Ken a long time to muster up the enery to restore it but when he did, it took five long years to do the work. Not only did the aluminium body parts need a lot of work, but most of the ash frame had to be replaced - a painstaking task in its own right. Ken readily admits that it was quite a learning process! The car was originally blue but once the body was ready, it was decided to paint it in two-pack signal red. The seats were recovered in black leather but to save time (and money), Ken and Sue covered the interior panels themselves. The engine has an unusual carburettor setup; it initially |

runs on the horizontal and then the downdraft comes in as necessary - in much the same way as a modern twin choke Weber. Kens says that although it is a good system, it can be troublesome to tune at times. For such a small car, this Triumph has a 17 gallon fuel tank. Enought to take Ken and Sue to lots of shows. One of the more unusual features of this car are the built-in scissor jacks (1 on the front and 2 on the back). Ken and Sue have been using the car regularly since 1993 and it has proved to be amazingly reliable. Next time you are at an SCVC event and you see a nice red Triumph Monte Carlo, check it out and have a chat with Ken and Sue. This car is available for Film/TV work.
